An independent Oregon nonprofit

Stronger support. Better care for Oregon youth.

Support. Educate. Advocate.

COCAP strengthens child and adolescent mental health care across Oregon by supporting the psychiatric workforce, advancing education, and advocating for better access to quality care for youth and families.

Our work

Three ways we work for Oregon youth

Everything COCAP does points to one outcome: young people and families across Oregon getting the mental health care they need.

Support

Mentorship, connection, and resources that help child and adolescent psychiatrists build lasting careers in Oregon, so more kids can find care close to home.

Educate

Continuing education that raises the quality of care for Oregon's children and teens, starting with a spring education program in Portland.

Advocate

Raising awareness of what young people and families need, and working with partners across Oregon for better access to quality care.

Why it matters

Great care for young people starts with clinicians who stay.

Children and teens do best with steady, skilled care from clinicians who know them and their families. When child and adolescent psychiatrists are supported, they build longer careers in Oregon, and the young people they serve benefit.

That is why COCAP invests in the people behind the care: mentorship for those starting out, education throughout their careers, and a community that makes the work sustainable.

  • Young people come first. Every COCAP program is measured by what it means for Oregon's kids and teens.
  • Clinicians who stay. When psychiatrists build long careers here, more young people get care close to home.
  • Relationships that last. Steady care from someone who knows a child and family is care that works.
